  1. Although I was living out of the country when Donna presented her book at Yume gardens, I got a copy at the recent PCC downtown Japanese language and culture event. It’s an insightful chronology of white people being gaijin in Tokyo, experiencing culture shock, and traveling extensively in Asia over 4.5 years. Steve, her husband worked at Nippon Motorola Ltd.(NML). They made many friends in Japan, observed the customs, and learned to appreciate our culture. Then they had to adjust to life in Texas, before moving back to Az. Lots of interesting photos included in book from 1990s. She writes in this autobiographical book that their overseas experience made them into “global citizens”, with an appreciation for Japan.
