Hiroshima Day commemoration at Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson on August 2

“We wish to invite you to our event this year on the Sunday before Hiroshima Day, August 2nd. It may be part of the main church service (10:30 a.m.) and afterwards in Goddard hall.

We have our service at 10:30AM and our music director knows somebody who plays the Koto or another Japanese instrument. So there should be Japanese music. Rev. Jamili Omar, our minister, will say some words to mark this solemn anniversary.

Afterwards, she would like to invite a representative of your coalition (retired Prof. Min Yanagihashi) to come to the pulpit and say a brief speech about what the day means. Then we’ll move to our social hall, Goddard Hall, where we’ll have some posters from Hiroshima, Japanese snacks, kanji peace stencil drawing, and origami-making.”
