“Immerse yourself in the quiet Zen practice of ink brush painting. Sumi-e is an ancient Japanese art used by Buddhist monks as a meditation. It is the tradition of capturing the spirit of simple subjects using a minimal number of brushstrokes. You will be guided step by step in using a bamboo brush, black sumi ink, and rice paper. You do not need to already be an “artist” to do Sumi-e. Just let Sumi-e to allow you discover the artist that’s already been INSIDE of you!”
The Drawing Studio is at 2760 N. Tucson Blvd. Register at www.thedrawingstudiotds.org.

Classes are from 1 to 4 p.m. except last class which is from 9 to 12 noon.
My sister was a sumi-e painter in the pacific northwest. She came to Arizona a few years ago because of a health issue. She has passed away and left a few chops that she used to sign her work. I am wondering if any of your students might be interested in purchasing them for a very reasonable price. Most of them appear to be made of stone, one is wood.
If you know of anyone who might like to see their imprint, I can try and get that on line.
Try to reach sumie art Instructor Joy Mills at The Drawing Studio. She might know what to do with these chops.
