Japanese Language & Culture summer camps at Tanque Verde Elem. School in June, 2017

For Grades 1 – 6 “Each week-long camp introduces students to Japanese language and its fascinating culture. The language lessons will teach students greetings, simple words and phrases in Japanese. Students will experience many fun hands-on activities that Japanese children enjoy in their country. Activities will include Origami, calligraphy, games, folk telling stories, songs, train toys, making & enjoying snacks, experiencing eating noodles with chopsticks, and wearing Kimonos.”

Origami ongoing through summer of 2017

Love origami?  Every month the Tucson Origami Club meets on the 1st Saturday of the month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Dao’s Tai Pan (Vietnamese/Chinese/Thai) restaurant, 446 N. Wilmot Rd. (south of Murphy-Wilmot branch library).  Founder/teacher M. Fumie Craig (and her daughter Stephanie Mariko Rojas) teach various origami foldings all year long.

In the Northwest section of Tucson, another origami teacher Mary Ellen Palmeri teaches at the Nanini branch library, 7000 N. Shannon Way (north of Ina Rd.). on the 3rd Sunday every month. She calls her club Origami LAFF (Lyric Arts Folding Fest), and they meet from 1 to 4 p.m.
