The festival occupies 4 city blocks and Jacomé Plaza, in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Avenue in downtown Tucson.

“LD 9 Democrats and the Asian-American Pacific Islander Caucus will host a special screening of the documentary film AND THEN THEY CAME FOR US on Saturday, September 7, 6:30 PM- 8:30 PM, at the Pima County Democratic Party Headquarters, 4639 E First Street.

After the screening, Catherine Ripley, Executive Director of the Pima County Democratic Party and AAPI caucus member will facilitate a discussion. (Cat is half Japanese American.)
Admission is free of charge, however a donation of $5.00 is encouraged. Wine, beer, soft beverages and snacks will be available for $5.00 donation.

Seventy-seven years ago President Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, paving the way for the forced incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans.
AND THEN THEY CAME FOR US educates audiences about the constitutional damage done in the name of national security.  Thousands of American citizens lost their homes, their businesses and their families due to war hysteria and racism. Yet the validity of these actions were upheld by the US Supreme Court in 1944, based on governmental lies which were later uncovered.
The film features Japanese Americans who were incarcerated, rediscovered photos of Dorothea Lange and the story of Fred Korematsu’s long journey to justice.
The film brings history into the present, as it follows Japanese Americans speaking out against the current Muslim travel ban and other regressive immigration policies. “

The Metal Arts Village is hosting the 1st ever Tucson Godzilla Fest!

“Come join us for an atomic blast filled evening!

A family friendly event for new and old fans alike. The first 50 people will receive a souvenir at the door. We will be discussing Kaiju films, and giant monster television shows and games. Additionally anyone who is interested in collecting figures we will have special panels talking about the figures, contests with prizes, local artists with special prints for sale, and much, much more!
